- Cut tree limbs 3ft to 6ft away from the roofline
- Install a quality chimney cap on fireplace chimney and furnace chimney (if needed)
- Keep garage door closed at night
- DO NOT leave dog or cat food out at night as the racoons, opossums and skunks love it
- Keep bird feeders at least 30ft away from home (rats and mice use it as food)
- Keep gutters and eaves in good repair, squirrels look for weak spots and chew there way in
- Use locking lid garbage cans to keep the racoons and rats out. Hint: use bungee cord across top of can and hook them on the handles on older cans
- Stack firewood 12″ to 18″ off the ground and away from the home
- In spring, erect a 4 foot fence around your garden to protect it from woodchucks and rabbits
